Warm, outgoing, and well-educated, she has always had a great love for languages and cultural exchange. We first met when Moni and her husband decided to learn Chinese, and I became their Chinese teacher. Over time, our teacher-student relationship grew into a wonderful friendship, and we became friends who could talk about almost anything. In today’s conversation, we talk about languages and education in India, Moni’s upbringing, and her experiences and feelings about living in the United States. From language education to connecting medical resources and exploring business collaborations, Lucian’s work continues to expand in different directions. But when I asked about his plans for the next five to ten years, his answer had little to do with ambition or achievement. What he hopes for is something quieter: to truly have a life of his own, to live with a sense of peace, and to become more at ease with himself.
