The dipping sauce is highly recommended because it will further enhance your hotpot experience. You can start with a simple dipping sauce such as soya sauce, chili sauce, sesame paste, and sesame oil. If you want to experience a stronger taste, you may consider adding some condiments into your sauce. Typical condiments for dipping sauce are scallions, chopped garlic, coriander, fermented tofu, and peppers. Usually, we match sesame oil sauce with Mala broth and match sesame paste sauce with traditional Beijing hotpot. But still, the dipping sauce is very much a thing of personal preference, so there is no perfect matching for each broth.
