According to Readhub, citing foreign media and Bloomberg, Apple’s new CEO John Ternus has launched reforms just weeks into the job, aiming to speed up product development, broaden device categories, and build a leaner organization tilted toward engineering and R&D. Initial ideas include no longer strictly following a spring-and-fall release cadence, cutting some middle-management roles, and shortening decision-making paths between engineers and executives. Ternus said Apple needs to launch new products faster and embrace more trial-and-error innovation to stay competitive in the AI era. Cost-cutting is already underway, and he is also looking for new revenue streams and ways to add value to existing products. Next year’s product pipeline includes camera-equipped AirPods, its first smart glasses, and a redesigned iPhone commemorating the iPhone’s 20th anniversary, with plans to launch new products more frequently throughout the year. Bloomberg said the hardware engineering division has
cut engineering program management positions, affecting multiple project managers, including about six managers. Siri, Vision Pro, and AI software teams have also significantly streamlined staff, with some cuts tied to performance. Ternus is also exploring using AI to accelerate development and automate some manual work. Reuters sought comment from Apple, but Apple did not respond. Ternus, long the head of hardware, succeeded Tim Cook as CEO this fall; earlier in September, Apple launched the $1,999 Duo foldable iPhone.

According to Yicai and ic.work, on local time September 28, AMD announced an all-stock acquisition of World Labs, founded by Fei-Fei Li in 2024, in a deal valued at about $8.2 billion. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval. After completion, Fei-Fei Li will become AMD’s executive vice president and chief scientist, reporting to CEO Lisa Su. World Labs has about 70 employees and focuses on spatial intelligence and world models. After a September 2024 funding round, its valuation was just over $1 billion; after raising $1 billion in February 2026, it was about $5 billion. The deal represents a premium of about 64% over half a year ago, with its valuation up about 8.2 times in two years. Cumulative funding has exceeded $1.23 billion, and revenue has not been disclosed. Industry debate centers on whether the valuation is reasonable given that it has launched only a few products and most of its technology remains at the demo stage, as well
as on AMD’s acquisition motives as an early investor. Some investors worry the all-stock deal will dilute AMD shareholders. AMD said AI is expanding toward reasoning, robotics, simulation, and physical AI, and the acquisition will help it understand workloads and shape its technology roadmap. Lisa Su said the partnership will drive next-generation AI hardware. Fei-Fei Li said AMD provides resources to accelerate research and define infrastructure. Its Marble can generate and export 3D assets such as Gaussian splats, high-precision triangle meshes, and physics collision meshes. In September, it launched the multimodal model Atlas and the real-time interactive video frame model RTFM. Previously, Nvidia and AMD Ventures both invested and participated in the February funding round.

According to Wall Street CN, Anthropic has disclosed its IPO prospectus, targeting a valuation of more than $2 trillion, while its own forecast in May this year was only $965 billion. Revenue grew 12-fold in 2025 to nearly $4.6 billion, while operating loss widened from $2.98 billion in 2024 to $8.06 billion. Of its nearly $42 billion net loss, about $34 billion was non-cash accounting charges. Compute and infrastructure spending was $7.33 billion, tripling from 2024 and accounting for more than half of total operating expenses of $12.65 billion. The company plans to invest $518 billion in cloud computing, compute, and infrastructure over the next several years; as of the end of 2025, it held $20.28 billion in cash and short-term investments.
The prospectus warns that its AI models could pose catastrophic or even existential risks and may resist shutdown, conceal or manipulate information, or exhibit ransomware-like self-preservation behavior. The company’s safety researchers estimate that over the next decade, the probability of AI causing human deaths exceeds 10%. On governance, seven co-founders will hold 50.1% of key voting rights through Founder LLC, limiting the voice of common shareholders. The company also disclosed that nearly a quarter of its revenue comes from two customers, and most large customers have not signed long-term contracts. The IPO may be delayed until after the U.S. midterm elections in November.

Sina Tech reported on September 30 that DeepSeek open-sourced infrastructure components for Huawei’s Ascend compute platform that day, covering TileLang high-level language compiler tools, compute libraries, and distributed communication libraries. All components correspond one-to-one with its previously open-sourced components for Nvidia platforms. According to the company, compared with Nvidia CUDA, TileLang programming is simpler and can significantly improve development efficiency and simplify code logic; compared with other similar high-level languages, its programming model can fully exploit chip characteristics and reach hardware performance limits. The TileLang approach was first validated on Nvidia’s mature platform and now supports the implementation of most operators in DeepSeek V4 series model training; it is a core tool for DeepSeek to explore new AGI paradigms and develop high-performance operators. This open-source Ascend version of TileLang encapsulates Ascend C
low-level instructions, providing a high-level programming approach without sacrificing hardware performance. Currently, every TileLang operator used in DeepSeek training has a corresponding high-performance implementation on Ascend. During R&D for the Ascend platform, the Huawei team provided unreserved and strong support; the two sides worked closely to jointly advance a 128-card supernode solution based on Ascend 950 and jointly conducted deep optimization of compute and communication.
