Once upon a time, in a bright and cheerful town, there lived a smart and kind girl named Emma. Emma loved to play with her friends, read books, and ride her bike through the park.
One sunny afternoon, Emma was playing at the park with her friends, Mia and Lily. They were having a wonderful time, laughing and swinging on the swings. Suddenly, an older boy named Max, who sometimes played rough and said mean things, came over to them.
“Hey, Emma, come play with me,” Max said, grabbing her arm.
Emma didn’t want to play with Max. She felt scared and uncomfortable. She remembered what her mom had told her: “If anyone makes you feel bad or tries to make you do something you don’t want to do, you can say no. It’s okay to be brave and stand up for yourself.”
Emma took a deep breath, pulled her arm away, and said firmly, “No, Max. I don’t want to play with you.”
Max looked surprised. “Why not? Are you scared?”
Emma stood tall and replied, “I don’t like the way you treat me. It’s not nice, and I don’t want to play with you.”
Mia and Lily stood beside Emma, nodding their heads. “We don’t want to play with you either, Max,” they said together.
Max frowned and walked away. Emma felt proud of herself. She had been brave and used her strong, brave word: no.
Later that day, Emma told her mom what happened. “I’m so proud of you, Emma,” her mom said, hugging her tightly. “You were very brave to say no and to stand up for yourself. Remember, it’s always okay to say no if someone is making you feel bad or uncomfortable.”
From that moment forward, Emma felt confident knowing she had the power to protect herself and her friends, using her brave word whenever she needed it. The days that followed were filled with laughter and fun, as Emma and her friends played happily, knowing they could always stand up for what was right.
