S5EP02 From the US to Panama: A Life Between Cultures
Cultural Collision
What does “home” mean when you’ve lived in more than one country?
In this episode of Cultural Collision, Victoria sits down with her former colleague and friend Kate, whose life has taken her from the US to Beijing, back to the US, and now to Panama.
Kate first moved to Beijing after university, where she spent several years working as an education consultant and working closely with Chinese students and families. After returning to the US, she eventually made another big move — this time to Panama.
Together, Victoria and Kate talk about culture shock, working in education, returning home after living abroad, and the unexpected ways different places can shape who we become. They also explore a question many internationally minded people can relate to: Can you belong to more than one place, or does living between cultures mean you never fully belong to just one?
Maybe home isn't always a country or a city. Maybe it's the people, experiences, memories, and different versions of ourselves that we collect along the way. 🌎✨
