1. 指人：表示 “平庸的人；无才无德者”（可数名词，复数形式为 mediocrities）。
   
   例：He hated the idea of being just another mediocrity in the crowd.（他厌恶成为人群中又一个平庸之辈的想法。）


2. 指事物 / 状态：表示 “平庸；普通；质量或水平低下”（不可数名词）。
   
   例：The novel was criticized for its mediocrity in plot and character development.（这部小说因情节和人物塑造平庸而受到批评。）

  例：He chose a life of mediocrity rather than taking risks.（他选择了平庸的生活，而非冒险。）

- despise /dɪˈspaɪz/，表示 强烈地厌恶、鄙视或看不起某人 / 事物，带有主观上的负面评价和情感排斥。其语气比 “dislike” 更强烈，接近于 “唾弃”“鄙夷”。

-coward  /ˈ kaʊərd/ 胆小鬼、懦夫
