"A farmer's life knows little rest. With May's arrival, they're at their busiest. "

This poem by Bai Juyi described the solar term Mangzhong or Grain in Ear.

Mang refers to awns found on crops, so during this period awny crops such as wheat ripen while  rice needs to be planted.

The word Mang also sounds like "busy” in Chinese, signifying the start of the busiest time for farmers.

Busy with summer harvest, as the wheat is ripe and must be gathered quickly.

Busy with summer planting ,as crops like soybeans and corn need to be sown, allowing them enough time to grow.

Busy with summer management, because crops like cotton and spring corn are in their peak growth period, needing pest control, fertilizing, watering and weeding.

Fields across China are bustling with agricultural activities.

Amidst the busy farming activities, there are customs like praying for a good harvest, bidding farewell to the Flower Goddess and brewing green plum wine.

Right after this solar term, the college entrance exams are coming.

Wishing everyone reaps what they saw and achieves their goals.
