How to End a Speech

Outline:

What are the functions of conclusion?

1. To let the audience know you are ending the speech

By Saying “in conclusion” “let me end by saying…”;
By manner of delivery.

2. To reinforce the audience’s understanding of, or commitment to, the central idea
Summarize your speech;
End with a quotation;
Make a dramatic statement;
Refer to the introduction.
