But what about Penelope? The one who stayed. Who held everything together while the hero was out having the adventure. Whose endurance, whose waiting, whose quiet heroism — is almost never the part of the story anyone tells.
This episode, Meg and Amy turn the Odyssey around.
The term “Odyssey years” has been circulating on Chinese social media — the stretch of life between adolescence and settled adulthood, when you’re neither who you were nor yet who you’re becoming. It sounds like freedom. It often feels like disorientation.
Meg is sitting with a version of herself she’s had to let go of — the ambitious, career-driven self who no longer fits the life she’s actually living. Becoming a mother didn’t just change her schedule. It changed her definition of success. And she’s not sure yet what the new one looks like.
