Why great speakers aren't always great writers?
Today, I want to talk about something I’ve been thinking about for quite a while: Why Great Speakers Don't Always Make Great Writers.
And actually, this episode started with a very simple observation. I’ve met people who are incredibly interesting when they talk. They have so many ideas. They can tell stories, explain things, make connections, and make you want to keep listening. But when you ask them to write those ideas down, something changes. Suddenly, the ideas disappear.
And this made me wonder: Why is that? If speaking and writing both use language, why can someone be good at one and struggle with the other?
Maybe we have been thinking about language ability in the wrong way. Maybe being a good speaker and being a good writer are not simply two levels of the same skill. Maybe they are two different ways of thinking.
And today, I want to explore that idea with you.
