本期词汇:exposure(暴露)、sensor(传感器)、chamber(心腔)、thicken(变厚)、flexible(有弹性的)、an early sign of(…

Good morning, and welcome to Daily English News. Today is September 25th, 2026. Here is a story about sleep that might change how you set up your bedroom.
A new study from Tulane University, published in the European Heart Journal, says sleeping with the lights on could harm your heart. Researchers followed more than eleven thousand adults from the UK Biobank. Each person wore a small sensor on the wrist for one week, to measure how much light reached them at night. Three years later, they all had a detailed heart scan. The results were clear. People who slept with more than three lux of light, about as bright as moonlight, had thicker walls in the main pumping chamber of the heart. Their heart muscle was also less flexible, which is an early sign of heart problems.
The advice is simple: turn off the lights, and keep your bedroom dark. Sweet dreams, and see you tomorrow.
