This is another essential episode of our “EAT Masters Series.” In today’s episode, we are joined by expressive arts therapy expert Kit Jenkins. Drawing on over thirty years of experience — spanning her long-standing faculty role at Lesley University and her transformative leadership as co-founder of the respected nonprofit RAW Artworks for young people — Kit joins us to explore a question that touches us all:
“I feel not good enough even when I'm praised. How can I truly start to validate myself from within?”
When external praise fails to reach us, it’s often because a voice Kit calls “The Critic” has occupied our minds. We try to banish or erase it, but Kit reminds us that relationships don’t just exist between people—they live and breathe within our bodies.
In this episode, Kit will guide you through a profound imaginative journey to meet your inner critic face-to-face. But this journey requires more than just imagination; it requires the most important tool in a therapist’s toolbox: Presence. By shifting your internal ground and establishing a dialogue with this voice rather than being defined by it, allowing you to rediscover your own inner strength and peace.
Join us as we use creativity to move beyond verbal self-judgment and find the courage to stand in our own presence.

In today’s episode, I’m truly honored to be joined by a senior expert in the field of Expressive Arts Therapy Kit Jenkins. Kit has been teaching as adjunct faculty at Lesley University for over 30 years, contributing to multiple graduate programs, including the expressive arts therapy master’s program. She has also taught at the European Graduate School in Switzerland and at Tufts University.
She is the founding Executive Director of RAW, a highly respected nonprofit organization, where she led its growth for over three decades and raised over $35 million in support of its mission.
Kit’s work spans expressive arts therapy, community arts, and social impact — from co-founding a community arts studio for children and adolescents, to supporting marginalized communities through nonprofit work. She was also among the early contributors to the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association, helping to shape the field in its early years.
Beyond her professional work, Kit is also a mother of twins, both now pursuing creative and nonprofit paths, and she lives a life deeply connected to movement and nature — spending much of her time in or on the water, swimming and rowing. This sense of rhythm, patience, and lived creativity continues to inform her work in a very human way.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
「Expressive Arts Therapy — Conversations with Masters」
As a graduate of the first cohort of the China–U.S. Expressive Arts Therapy training program, I feel deeply honored to invite six leading figures in the field—senior practitioners, professors, and educators actively engaged in both clinical work and teaching—to join this series and share their insights.
They all graduated from Lesley University and bring decades of experience. They are not only experts, but also pioneers—people who have witnessed and shaped the field from its early beginnings to where it is today.
To make listening easier, this series will be released in two versions: a Chinese voiceover version and the original English audio. You can choose whichever feels right for you.
