gaze既可以做名词，意思是a long steady look，比如male gaze，男性凝视。gaze也可以作动词，后面接介词at/into，gaze at或者gaze into sth。


In feminist theory, the male gaze is the act of depicting women from a masculine, heterosexual perspective that presents women as sexual objects for the pleasure of the male viewer. 
在女性主义理论中，男性凝视指从男异性恋者的角度描绘女性，将女性作为性的客体，以取悦男性观众的行为。
