Many people believe that good sleepers always fall asleep in a flash. But actually this attitude can trigger anxiety and further delay falling asleep. It’s “perfectly normal” to lie in bed for 10 or 20 minutes before you drift off. Regularly falling asleep in a moment or two is not a sign of being a good sleeper. In fact, it may be a symptom of excessive sleepiness and an underlying sleep disorder. So first thing first, don’t freak out. Don’t force yourself to fall asleep. I think this is a very important tip as many of us are too easy to get nervous when we can’t fall asleep quickly. And also, if you really find it hard to fall asleep, jut get out of your bed. Dr. Robin says, “The best practice involves going to bed only when one is feeling sleepy and getting out of bed if sleep doesn’t arrive in more than 30 minutes. Spending stretches of time in bed while struggling to sleep negatively conditions the bed for sleeplessness, which can cause future conditioned insomnia.” [ Insomnia /ɪnˈsɑːmniə/ 失眠 ] So if you notice that you have been in bed for 30 minutes or so and nothing is working, maybe you can get out of the bed and do something else, such as writing your journal, or reading a book. But remember, stay away from all your electronics. Using electronic devices late at night is terrible for our sleep. The US National Institutes of Health says, watching TV, playing video games, using a mobile phone and social networking can make it significantly harder for you to fall and stay asleep. And if you often feel groggy after you wake up, you may not have the right amount of sleep. A sleep circle is what your brain does when you’re sleeping. Each circle lasts around 90 minutes. During this time your brain is focusing on two sleep cycle categories, rapid-eye-movement sleep and non-rapid-eye-movement sleep. So maybe you can time your alarm to go off during your lightest sleeping period. And some sleep cycle calculator apps can help you with this. Also if you need to nap during your day time, give yourself a full sleep cycle (90 minutes) can help you recover from fatigue. And many experts say that a nap lasting around 5 to 20 minutes could be beneficial as well, since the farther along you are in your sleep circle, the harder it would be for you to wake up.

An alien played by Amir loses the only device he can use to communicate with his family and go back home. His innocent nature and child-like questions force the country to re-think about the impact of religions on its people. Which God should you worship? One religion tells you to fast on Monday, another religion tells you to fast on Tuesday; one religion says go to the temple without shoes on, but another says wear shoes inside the church; one religion says eat after sunset, one says eat before sunset…it is very confusing. AK: We respect all religions. All my Hindu friends have seen the film and they didn’t find anything hurtful in it. In fact, 99 percent of the crew was Hindu. I respect everyone’s viewpoints, their feelings and their opinions. There are a lot of genuine spiritual gurus who will make you feel better. They inspire and enrich you with ideas and they are great spiritual leaders. This film does not target them. It is for those who are corrupt and are trying to take advantage of you to sell their products. To pray, talk or communicate with God and share my feelings or troubles, I don’t need a mediator. [中介物/传递者] “There are two types of God. The first one created the Universe. He is loving, forgiving宽容的, omniscient/ɑːmˈnɪʃənt/无所不知的, protective and unprejudiced无偏见的. There is another God whom People created. He is forgetful健忘的, wrathful /ˈræθfl/愤怒的, prejudiced, and might punish you if you do not believe in Him. The first God encourages love, while the other God feeds on fear.” But actually there is no one “right” path. The path is always an individual journey. We shouldn’t follow people blindly. We can decide what is right and what is wrong. So when we find something outlandish, we should raise our voice to reject it, no matter who is endorsing it. “Never compromise with what you believe in and what makes you happy, it is too valuable. If you do not compromise during your worst times when you are up against the wall, you will never ever compromise with anything in life. Always stand for what you believe in. You might not always win but the respect you will have for yourself will be greater than any possible outcome.”

The movie is based on a true story. Film producer Jonathan Cavendish made the film to honor his amazing parents. It tells the story of Jonathan’s father, Robin Cavendish, who was stricken with polio at age 28 but went on to live a rich life. And Robin’s wife is always there by his side. After Robin contracted polio, he was told by his doctors that he would live perhaps only three months. Then he was told that he would spend whatever time he had in a hospital bed. Hearing this, Robin wanted to die. But his wife told him he had to live to see their son grow up. So he went on living. His wife knew he wanted to escape from the hospital and be treated at home, and she did all she can to help him. So he left the hospital to live at home, helped develop a wheelchair with a respirator/ˈrespəreɪtər/ so he could leave the house. And he even very often traveled with his wife, Diana, and son, and lived for 36 more years. I’ve accepted the risk of dying. I don’t want to just survive. I want to truly live. When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, some day you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "no" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

Taylor Swift

The documentary is about the personal life and music career of the pop star. “As a teenager who had only been in country music, attending my very first pop awards show, somebody stood up and sent me the message: ‘You are not respected here. You shouldn’t be here on this stage.’” "When you’re living for the approval of strangers, and that is where you derive all of your joy and fulfillment, one bad thing can cause everything to crumble." “I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking(跟踪), and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry.” "I want to wear pink and tell you how I feel about politics. And I don’t think that those things have to cancel each other out." There’s always some standard of beauty that you’re not meeting. Because if you’re thin enough, then you don’t have that ass that everybody wants, but if you have enough weight on you to have an ass, then your stomach isn’t flat enough. It’s all just f***ing impossible. 背景音乐:only the young; you can't stop the girl

God knew they couldn’t be on this earth without each other,” 上帝知道他们离不开彼此。 Have a good time. Life is too short to get bogged down and be discouraged. You have to keep moving. You have to keep going. Put one foot in front of the other, smile and just keep on rolling. Haters are a good problem to have. Nobody hates the good ones. They hate the great ones. Be sad. Be mad. Be frustrated. Scream. Cry. Sulk. When you wake up you will think it was just a nightmare only to realize it’s all too real. Everything negative -- pressure, challenges -- is all an opportunity for me to rise. "The last time I was intimidated was when I was 6 years old in karate class. I was an orange belt and the instructor ordered me to fight a black belt who was a couple years older and a lot bigger. I was scared s--less. I mean, I was terrified and he kicked my ass. But then I realized he didn't kick my ass as bad as I thought he was going to and that there was nothing really to be afraid of. That was around the time I realized that intimidation didn't really exist if you're in the right frame of mind." I want to see if I can. I don't know if I can. I want to find out. I want to see. I'm going to do what I always do: I'm going to break it down to its smallest form, smallest detail, and go after it. Day by day, one day at a time. When you make a choice and say, 'Come hell or high water, I am going to be this,' then you should not be surprised when you are that. It should not be something that is intoxicating or out of character because you have seen this moment for so long that ... when that moment comes, of course it is here because it has been here the whole time, because it has been [in your mind] the whole time. You guys know that if you do the work, you work hard enough, dreams come true. You know that, we all know that. But hopefully what you get from tonight is that those times when you get up early and you work hard; those times when you stay up late and you work hard; those times when don’t feel like working – you’re too tired, you don’t want to push yourself – but you do it anyway. That is actually the dream. That’s the dream. It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. And if you guys can understand that, what you’ll see happen is that you won’t accomplish your dreams, your dreams won’t come true, something greater will. And if you guys can understand that, then I’m doing my job as a father.

South Korean film Parasite won four Oscars, including Best Picture. This is the first time that a non-English language film has won the top award. ”Once you overcome the 1-inch-tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films.” The film sets up a contrast between the unequal social classes, following the poor Kim family who live in a half-basement apartment and the fabulously wealthy Pu family who own a big house. Paul Piff said in a TED Talk that, as a person's levels of wealth increase, their feelings of compassion and empathy go down, and their feelings of entitlement, of deservingness, and their ideology of self-interest increase...Actually wealthier individuals are more likely to moralize greed being good, and that the pursuit of self-interest is favorable and moral. “The true horror and fear of Parasite isn’t just about how the present-day situation is bad but that it will only continue to get worse. That’s my own fear in my life. I’m 50 now, so I’m going to die in about 30 years. My son is 23 now. When he reaches middle age, after I die, will it get better? I don’t know. I’m not so hopeful. Still, we have to try to live happily.” Human’s greatest advances are not in its discoveries, but how those discoveries are applied to reduce inequality. Whether through democracy, strong public education, quality health care, or broad economic opportunity--reducing inequality is the highest human achievement.

Life Is Beautiful is a 1997 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Roberto Benigni. The story is about a carefree Jewish book keeper named Guido starts a fairy tale life by marring a lovely woman, Dora, from a nearby city in Italy. Guido tells his son that the Holocaust /'hɒləkɔːst/ is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank. He tries to help his son to survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp. Guido is a Jewish. He is the type of person that always wants to please others and make them happy. Dora on the other hand, grew up in very different circumstances. She is from a fairly wealthy family. She is a teacher, and is already engaged to another wealthy man. Dora and I were born on the same street. We went to school together, we had the same friends. Dora is the woman of my life, and I'm the man in her life; therefore, we've decided to get married within the year. As a gentile Italian citizen, she's protected from being deported. But out of love and a desire to keep her family together, she chooses to get on the train. She’s really a powerful woman. Last night, I dreamt about you all night. We were going to the movies. You were wearing that pink suit that I really like. You're all I think about, Princess. I always think about you. Life is always beautiful, no matter it's shape or form. "Life is like the ocean. It can be calm or still, and rough or rigid, but in the end, it is always beautiful."

The sequel saw the McCallister family planning to spend Christmas in Miami, and once again, they overslept for their flight. This time, the parents managed not to forget their youngest child Kevin, however in the melee to catch their flight, Kevin accidentally boarded a flight to New York following a man who looked like his dad. Kevin was alone, again. Like in the first film, Kevin was very independent, and conquered many challenges. In the end, unexpectedly, he helped prevent two thieves from robbing a toy store. When Kevin asked Pigeon Lady why she’s always alone, she said: “The man I loved fell out of love with me. That broke my heart. When the chance to be loved came along again, I ran away from it. I stopped trusting people.” Pigeon Lady: I was afraid of getting my heart broken again. Sometimes you can trust a person, and then, when things are down, they forget about you. Maybe they're just too busy. Maybe they don't forget about you, but they forget to remember you. People don't mean to forget. My grandfather says if my head wasn't screwed on, I'd leave it on the school bus. Pigeon Lady: I'm just afraid if I do trust someone, I'll get my heart broken. Kevin McCallister: I understand. I had a nice pair of rollerblades. I was afraid to wreck them, so I kept them in a box. Do you know what happened? I outgrew them. I never wore them outside. Only in my room a few times. They're kind of the same thing. If you won't use your heart, who cares if it gets broken? If you just keep it to yourself, maybe it'll be like my rollerblades. When you do decide to try it, it won't be any good. You should take a chance. Got nothing to lose.
