In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Florent Maurin, CEO of The Pixel Hunt and a former journalist, to discuss reality-inspired games. I was deeply moved by their latest creation, The Wreck. The game follows the story of Junon, a French screenwriter who is faced with a decision regarding her mother's death. Florent is an expert in indie narrative games, and during our conversation, we delved into topics such as the balance between commercial success and personal expression in indie games. You missed a lot! Qing and I talked through UWC, the identity crisis as young intl students and the actual cultural gap. The funny thing is that we both had our first personal project at age 14. It made us believe we could change something and become less afraid of the big world. Today's episode mainly focuses on Qing's story at the Affiliated High School of Peking University. She encountered a very inspiring educational reform against the Chinese traditional system. After that, I spoke about the innovative forms of education I've paid attention to. It is also a vision proposed by the United World College (UWC), an innovative international network of schools. Qing moved to Beijing as a kid, later attended the Affiliated High School of Peking University and UWC India, where she was able to experience something unique. I'm curious about these questions: can a Changemaker be made? How to let a person believe that he/she/they could actually change the world?
