Like many others, tonight I've watched the remastered version of Passion Tour of Leslie Cheung (张国荣先生). And then, feelings were like water, welling up in my heart. But sadly, feelings by definition are mostly felt, not described. Next thing I know, I've got this episode in which I have no idea about what I'm doing. Enjoy still!
Hello gamers! The more pathetic thing than not being able to play a game well, is to not know what game you are playing. A friendly reminder, when we are out here in the society, we are no longer playing the Game of Finitude, like what we used to play as students; instead, we are trying our luck in the Game of Infinity, where we have very, very long time to test out our ideas and chase our dreams, and where we don't have to follow other's system to establish a career. We invent our own career and walk our own path in OUR OWN ways. Have fun in this exciting new game babies!
Comparison. Omnipresent, unavoidable, like a constant of our planet earth. To be fair, it has benefited our life in essential ways. But if we don't watch our interaction with "comparison", we might get too close to it, to the point of hurting ourselves. Hopefully we can all learn to manoeuvre "comparison", making it serve us, instead of the other way around.
This is a birthday girl making a wish. I feel like the best gift we can give ourselves is not some fancy stuff or constant pampering and positive thinking, but self-education. Educate ourselves about the outside world, so that we both feel a closer connection with the world and make on-point comments on things happening; Educate ourselves about our inner world, so that we understand our needs, wants, and emotions as a human being, thereby being the best friends of our own; Educate ourselves about people, especially the communication with them, so that we can identify who is bullsh*ting and who is worth learning from. Happy birthday girl, keep growing.
We oftentimes see the analogy that life is like a train. We are headed to "a destination", and "people come and go". But these are all wrong assumptions about life that potentially insinuate that we cannot assert power over our own life. Today I would like to change the narrative. Life is a farmland that we maintain; we don't have to have a destination, and we have a say on whom we attract into and expel out of our lives.
Back when I was a freshman in college, I sat through the first microeconomics lesson with excitement. It was so useless yet so useful, too. Useless, in the sense that the knowledge of microeconomics certainly doesn't directly help me land a job; Useful, in the sense that it could potentially change the lens through which we see every decision we need to make in life. Let's see what it has to offer. Yay!
In this episode, I just want to say that girls are really beautiful, lovely, and gorgeous creatures. We should love ourselves before anyone can fall in love with us. I hope every girl, every lady, every woman can develop a strong self, and let’s be independent, happy, and powerful!
After a hectic week, we deserve to do something enjoyable to make our weekend sweeter. Don't worry, the "desserts" I recommend in this episode will neither put more weight on you nor cost you a fortune. Rather, they are healthy and almost free! The pace of this episode is quite slow, and the background jazz comes from the movie A Rainy Day in New York, by Woody Ellen. I loved this flick, and you guys should check it out in the theatre! Enjoy your weekend my dear friends :)
Anxiety, much like any other emotion, always looms somewhere in our life and is ready to show up out of nowhere. We have been used to treating it like an enemy to fight off, but... in fact emotions do serve good purposes if we do not become too absorbed in them. So let's embrace anxiety, baby steps first :)
We oftentimes ask ourselves, how to get others to love us? But the real question we should be asking is, how to love ourselves more? Seriously, when we respect ourselves, become independent, lead a fulfilling life, without extra efforts we will attract others to like us, because we are not trying to control someone or become affiliated to someone. Likewise, instead of asking ourselves how to manage stress, we might be better off figuring out a way to choose a job and relationships that do not give us much stress in the first place. Ask the right question. Don't make pointless efforts.
At one point we invented tools and we made use of them, period. Until one day we invented a tool that started to be our master. Be aware. Make some change.
I used to equate eating meals with ingesting anything eatable. That's wrong. I used to eat foods that my brain liked but that my body hated. That’s stupid. I used to not be able to derive fun out of having meals. That’s a shame.
