本期节目，Storyland故事星球采访了来自美国的绘本作者、插画师Jeff Mack。Jeff出生和成长于美国纽约州锡拉丘兹市（Syracuse），一个距纽约市至少5小时车程的小城市。小时候他就会花很多时间画怪物主题的漫画，但经常画不出自己想要的效果。他没放弃，一直坚持练习。第一份工作为电影、书籍和唱片画宣传海报。又做了5年壁画师和人造纹理师（比如在墙面上画出大理石、木头等材质的纹理）。这些工作经历让他不断练习绘画技巧。2000年，搬到纽约市，他试图将一些作品卖给出版公司，但起初并太受欢迎。他的故事被认为对孩子们来说太奇怪或太恶心，不过有几位编辑倒是很喜欢他的绘画风格，邀请他为其他作者画插画，这成为他童书事业的起点。他为Eve Bunting画的《Hurry!
