Ultra-processed food is a global health threat, experts warn
The international team of researchers says ultra-processed foods present too great a danger to health to wait any longer to take action against them.
They say products containing high levels of saturated fat, salt, sugar and additives are displacing fresh food. Examples include processed meats, crisps, mass-produced bread, ready meals and fizzy drinks.
The researchers take aim at a handful of massive food corporations, calling for them to face marketing restrictions and extra taxes.
