Assumption versus Presumption 📕presumption(You believe something or act it in a way without proof. It could be related to legal system.) Ex: She acted under the presumption that her rent wasn't going to increase this year. Ex: He made a lot of presumptions about the job that weren't even remotely ture. 📕assumption(less formal, it doesn't necessarily have the same negative intonation as "presumption", more common, everyday life. ) Ex: I made an assumption that the schedule wouldn be full. I should have called you first. Ex: I made an assumption was that her fight was going to arrive late. 👏👏👏For here, "presumption" wouldn't be usually used. Ex:I'm working under the assumption that we'll have met our goals by the end of the month. 👀presumption: more formal, a little less common, a little bit more arrogant, negative and entitled. 👀assumption: more frequently, more everyday and it doesn't necessarily have the negative intonation, but it could be that way depand on the context. 💋Role Play: A: I presumed you will je on time this time. B: Yeah, of course! A: Thanks! B: Will you be staying late? A: Well, I was under the assumption that we would be out by 8.
