Why Good School English Does Not Automatically Mean a High IELTS Score
Most Chinese students spend many years studying English. They memorize thousands of words, learn complicated grammar rules, complete endless reading comprehension exercises, and often achieve excellent results in their school examinations.
Yet many of these same students are surprised, even shocked, when they take the IELTS examination for the first time. Some receive a score of 5.5 when they expected a 7.
Others believe that because they consistently score highly in school English, achieving Band 7 or even Band 7.5 in IELTS should be relatively straightforward.
