🌈How to refer to strangers in English. Lady(It's often used in the media or everyday speech with tone of frustration or sarcasm.) Ex: Hey, lady! Move your car. Ex: Hey, lady, get out of my way.("Lady" refers to a dog.) Ex: Hey, lady! where's my dinner? 👏👏👏It mostly have a commanding tone when we call someone's a lady. 👏👏👏If u r wanting to show respect and avoid offending, we wouldn't use "lady""woman"as a stand alone label in the US or possibly in the UK. 🧐🧐🧐Here are some better options for the situation where we don't someone's first n ame or last name. "miss" or "mamma" is appropriate, but"miss" is mor flattering for younger women, unless that person is quiet elderly. "mamma" is common in the south. Ex: Right this way, miss/ mamma! 👏👏👏if u don't know the cultural story behind "lady", so that would be understandable u were using polite tone. ☝"lady's plurual" is fine. Ex: Right this way, ladies! Here are we talking about man ✗: Mr. come with me! ✓: Mr. Johnson, come with me! Ex :Hey, Mr. eat your food!( Mr refers to her son) Better option is "sir", luckily for any age. 👏👏👏We wouldn't say "sirs" for a group of man, but we use "gentleman"
