Let's make sure this land(resonate, understand it)
We usually say "something landed" instead of "something lands"
Something is understood/ make sense
Ex: The whole plan wasn't understood by employees, so thy came up with a new idea.
Role Play
A: What do u think about the joke about couch?
B: To be honest, it didn't land for me.
A: What can make it better?
B: I think it will make sense to the audience if u pause it a bit before the punchline.
A: U think they would get it then.
B: I think it would help a lot, otherwise the jokes may not be understood.
A: Ok, I will try it that way.

Something doesn't land/ Something didn't land
= it wasn't understood. It didn't work well. It might be awkward.
= People don't get it, because that's not funny.
It could be used when someone tells a joke(common way). It could be used other way as well.
Off color jokes(dirty jokes)
Ex: Can u explain that to the audience again? That example din't seem land.
Ex: I told her situation, but it didn't land well. She didn't seem understand why we were making the changes and didn't agree with it at all.
Ex: The PR campaign didn't land with the audience, so they move on to "Plan B"
