Life Is Beautiful is a 1997 Italian comedy-drama film directed by Roberto Benigni.

The story is about a carefree Jewish book keeper named Guido starts a fairy tale life by marring a lovely woman, Dora, from a nearby city in Italy.

Guido and Dora have a son and live happily together after until the occupation of Italy by German forces. 

Guido tells his son that the Holocaust /'hɒləkɔːst/ is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank. He tries to help his son to survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp. 

Guido is a Jewish. He is the type of person that always wants to please others and make them happy. 

Dora on the other hand, grew up in very different circumstances. She is from a fairly wealthy family. She is a teacher, and is already engaged to another wealthy man.

Dora and I were born on the same street. We went to school together, we had the same friends. Dora is the woman of my life, and I'm the man in her life; therefore, we've decided to get married within the year. 

As a gentile Italian citizen, she's protected from being deported. 

But out of love and a desire to keep her family together, she chooses to get on the train. She’s really a powerful woman.

Life is always beautiful, no matter it's shape or form. "Life is like the ocean. It can be calm or still, and rough or rigid, but in the end, it is always beautiful."
