开场白:
Hi friends, welcome back to my Podcast.
Today is Monday, November 7th. Can’t believe that we are already in the tail of 2022! 2023 is only less two months away. Did you have fun in Halloween? Even if you don’t, don’t worry about it. Holiday season is upon us and you’ve got plenty of time to celebrate/have fun/eat a lot of great food.
Personally, I think it doesn’t matter where the holiday comes from. What really matters is to connect with the people you care about. As I always say, put down your phone and meet real people. It’s 10 times, it not a hundred times better.
Daily Phrase:
(Go) cold turkey: a.) to stop using an addictive substance abruptly and completely; b.) to undergo sudden and complete withdrawal from a habitual activity or behavior pattern. 突然停止
Quit smoking cold turkey

One of the biggest stories in the business world recently is Elon Musk finally took over Twitter. Personally, I thought he would have chickened out. Apparently, I was wrong. He did buy Twitter and he is now the new owner of the company. The most shocking thing he did is to fire newly 50% of the workforce in the first week. Yes, 50%! This echos many other big name tech companies in the U.S. People are wondering if the winter has already started. So, in today’s episode let’s talk about these big layoffs.
- Elon Musk’s Twitter lays off employees across the company (CNN Business)
- Morgan Stanley to start layoffs in coming weeks as dealmaking slows (Reuters)
- Not just Twitter: Tech layoffs hit Stripe, Opendoor, Chime, and more (TechWire)
- Apple Pause, Lyft Layoffs Herald New Phase of Tech Austerity (Bloomberg)
