I'd like to talk about my best friend in Singapore, whose name is Andrew. He's an incredibly helpful person, and I'm truly fortunate to have him in my life.
We first met when I was studying in Singapore. Initially, we were just classmates, but we really got to know each other through a mutual friend. Andrew is a local, and he has this amazing knack for making everyone around him feel welcome and at ease.
As a native, he's always willing to assist international students like me. He often takes the initiative to show new arrivals around the city, whether it's introducing us to the “only-locals-known” type of local eateries or guiding us to the most interesting spots to chill. He seems to know every tree on the island, as I used to joke. He's also generous with sharing insights about the local culture. Whenever any of us have questions about traditions, festivals, or the way of life in Singapore, he's the go-to person. In the academic realm, he's equally helpful. We often have in-depth discussions about schoolwork. He offers unique perspectives that help me see things from a different angle.
He has actually helped me on countless occasions, and the most recent one is when I needed his help to collect my graduation gown. There was a specific date and location in Singapore where I was supposed to pick it up, but unfortunately, I couldn't be there on that day. When I shared my dilemma with Andrew, he offered to help without a moment's hesitation. He made the effort to go to the designated time and place to collect the gown for me. I was extremely grateful, not just for this particular favor, but for everything he's done for me. Knowing Andrew has been such a blessing, and I value our friendship. He's the kind of person who makes a positive impact on everyone around him, and I feel lucky to call him my best friend.
