In this episode of Planet Speakeasy, I sit down with documentary filmmaker Chen Siyi for an open and candid conversation. Chen is best known for her film Dear Mother, I Meant to Write about Death, which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival. The film intimately chronicles her mother’s battle with cancer and the emotional complexities of their relationship, earning widespread acclaim. 

However, the discussion in this episode goes beyond the documentary. We talk about cats, relationships, and the countless heartbreaks that somehow — in a painfully enlightening way — nourished our lives and creativity.
