Adding "up" to a verb imperative phrasal verbs(command, making a request or give a advice) 👏wait(very urgent, serious) wait up(soften a little bit and less urgency, more casual) 1️⃣ wait up A: Are you leaving right now? B: Yeah, in five minutes. A: Wait up. I'll come with you.(to soften with"up") 2️⃣open up Ex: Hey, open up, open up! I wanna come in. I wanna be the first customer. A: Hey, I got you a present! B: Oh, thx, That's exciting! A: Open it up! 3️⃣hurrp up A: What time are we supposed to be there? B: 7, hurry up, we're gonna be late.(It could be harsh depends on the tone) 📕Where's your hurry?(might be regional) 4️⃣eat up A: Thank you foe inviting me to the dinner. B: I hope w like it, eat up!(more friendly, and eat is like a command) 5️⃣dig in, drunk up(very casual) A: This wedding venue is so beautiful. B: Thx for coming. It's an open bar, so drink up! 📕Othe way: Help yourself, go grab your drink(a little formal than "eat up" "drink up")
