Hello everyone and welcome to episode 6 of Weekend English Club, where I tell short stories to help you train your English.

This week I want to talk about another holiday, Christmas. Christmas was always one of my favorite holidays, celebrated at the end of the year. Christmas is also a Christian holiday and celebrated in all Western countries, but it is also popular in other countries like Japan. I think a lot of countries have different ways of celebrating Christmas, but there are a few things that are the same everywhere. For example, Santa Claus is very important. A big old man dressed in red with a large white beard who visits every house to bring gifts to children who have been nice that year. Some people like to hang big socks on the wall so Santa Claus can leave gifts inside when he visits during the night. Otherwise, he will leave them under the Christmas tree.

When I was a child my parents would buy a Christmas tree every year and put it in our living room. I really like them because they smell very nice, just like the forest. We would decorate it with Christmas balls and lights in different colors, and leave it there until the new year. Lots of cities will also put Christmas trees outside in December, so you can see them everywhere.

I think I always liked Christmas so much because it is a very cozy holiday. We get some days off from work and school to be with our family at the end of the year, and my family would always have a big Christmas dinner together. I heard that in China some people give apples to each other during Christmas, but we do not do that in my country. So you see, Christmas can be different everywhere but it is always a good time to spend with your family and friends.
