Hello everyone and welcome to episode 7 of Weekend English Club, where I tell short stories to help you train your English.

The past few weeks I have been talking about holidays but today I will talk about something different. I will talk about the German car brand Audi, so you will hear more words related to car technology.

The history of Audi starts in 1909, when its founder started a business in Zwickau, a city in the eastern part of Germany. The founder was a   man called August Horch. His last name Horch means listen in English, and the Latin word for listen is Audi. This is how Audi got its name.

Audi started its history creating cars with powerful engines and was the first German car manufacturer to build a car with the steering wheel on the left side. It used to be more common to have the steering wheel on the right side, but this changed with time.

Their headquarters used to be in the east of Germany, but later they decided to move their company headquarters to West Germany and continued their production from there.

Nowadays Audi is quite a big brand, and they produce more than a million cars every year. Audi is known for its luxury and sports cars, such as the Audi RS6. The letters RS stand for Racing Sports, so the name can give you an idea of what kind of car this is. It is a car model with a powerful V8 engine and can reach a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. Aside from these kinds of cars, Audi also has plans to produce more electric cars.
