I am joined by Cherry and Lassie from Rotten Cherry in discussing the German film I Am Your Man, starring Dan Stevens and Maren Eggert. Enjoying Dan’s British-accented German, I was deeply enchanted by this story between a reluctant woman and her robot friend, programmed according to her romantic taste. It is light-hearted with comical details as well as philosophical reflection. Tenderly, it asks questions about what to do when facing the ending of a relationship, and human beings’ exploration of their desires and fears in a near future.

But it’s Dan Stevens! Who could refuse such a perfect man… from the perspective of the AI robot, maybe it’s also not that easy to “love” or even pretend to. I believe in the end the Tom became a Man in a way which we don’t understand.
