AEE 2272: Don't Be an English Outlier 不要成为英语中的异类 Jaywalker 不守交通规则 乱穿马路的人 jay（松鸡）是美洲大陆的一种鸟，性喜喧闹，行为莽撞，在美国俚语中常被用来比喻“乡巴佬”、“无经验的人”。当乡下人第一次来到大城市时，面对车水马龙不免手足无措，往往会不遵守交通规则而在马路上乱穿乱跑，就像松鸡一样。因此人们就杜撰了jaywalker一词来表示这种不守交通规则、乱穿马路的行人。 1. it's the exception, not the rule . 这是个例外 something is prety rare . eg, so she's late ? i know, it's frustrating, but that's the exception, not the rule .( means tipically the person is on time, give this person some graces .) eg, i am so sorry, i totally forgot to bring your book. i promise this is the exception not rule . eg, the party always start at six, the exception to the rule would be if there are two and one day, then we would start at seven. 2. That's not a norm .这不寻常 这不是常态 3. outlier 异常值 露宿者 局外人 离开本体的部分 something is ouside what is tipical . use by science of result , study , it's a little more academic language . eg, there are outliers in our schedule, so we should good to go.(准备离开或开始做某事) 4. abnormally , outside the norm.反常地 eg, don't worry, that's total abnormally, it wouldn't happen everytime. backgrounds, planning the a picnic 准备野餐 ok so Michael order the desserts . yep, but there would be so much food there, maybe it's too much . well that would be ok . i don't want them total waste. it seems it's the exception not the rule, we don't do it everytime. i know, but i alway try to keep food to the minimum. the only exception to the rule would be if we have someone and donated after . ok we can work on that, it's a bit of abnormally in this party , so i never think of that . but this is important, this maybe the one outlier. ok i will look into an option.

This won't happen every time.
